Karuna's home village is on a small southern island where dogs are worshiped as protective guardians that bring fortune. Karuna's father was a dog spirit that the village treated as a deity though he did not have any special abilities aside from shapeshifting. Karuna's mother served the village's temple. Since his birth, Karuna has been living in the temple. Karuna is loved by the village people because he is half dog. When he turned 17, he set off for the Academy of Heroes to practice using Eden and master his abilities so that he can better protect the village.
